Ever since he was 3 years old, Jackson has wanted to play baseball. Jackson played FHLL since A-ball and was a member of the Fort Hunt Little League 2018 District 9 Little League Division Championship team, throwing a complete game win in the championship game. He is a 4-year Varsity starter, a Co-Captain of the West Potomac High School baseball team and earned All-District honors the past 2 years. Jackson’s high school coach wrote, “It was immediately clear to me at that time that Jackson had a desire and passion for the game of baseball, along with the motivation needed to succeed and improve his game to the best of his ability… Players and coaches quickly took notice of how thorough Jackson prepared himself before games and practices. It is a testament to his commitment, to his craft, his teammates, and his love of the game. It is not just Jackson’s technical skills and dedication that allow him to play and pitch at the highest level, but his selfless team first attitude and commitment to his teammates that raises the game of everyone else around him.” Jackson will attend Salisbury University in Maryland this fall.
The Bakers have had the privilege of watching John play baseball since he was 9 years old, and pretty much every year since. He has been a teammate of Jackson in travel, Little League, All-Stars, and high school. John played FHLL since t-ball and was a member of the Fort Hunt Little League 2018 District 9 Little League Division Championship team, along with Jackson. He is a 4-year Varsity starter, a 2-year Co-Captain, and earned all-district honors 3 years at West Potomac High School. John’s high school teammate wrote, “John’s commitment to improving his craft is one that cannot be matched. He has spent countless hours at the local cages, sacrifices hangouts late at night, and misses sleep to go early in the morning before school. John does all this because of his dream and desire to make himself a better player and continue to play at the highest level as long as he can.” John will attend Ball State University in Indiana this fall.
Luke Cardman has been a teammate of Jackson Baker in travel, Little League all-stars, and high school. Luke is a Co-Captain of the West Potomac High, a leader who always puts his team first, and one of the politest young men you will ever meet. One of Luke’s teammates wrote, “Luke is truly a selfless person who cares deeply about others, always offering a helping hand or a word of encouragement… He has been a leader on the baseball field ever since our years together in Little League. By putting others first, Luke truly exemplifies what it means to be a team player. He holds himself and those around him accountable for their actions, serving as a role model for younger players and his peers.” Luke will attend The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, this fall.
Nathan DeWitte is a Co-Captain of his Episcopal High School baseball team. He played on Fort Hunt Little League's 2017 Virginia Little League Division State Championship team. His high school coach said, “He is someone that I can always rely on to help teach our younger players the game, the hard work that goes into being successful, and the supportive nature teammates express to one another…. I have seen firsthand that Nathan is always the first to pick up his teammates, lead by example and support others' success before his.” Nathan will attend Washington and Lee University of America in Lexington, VA, this fall.
